Saturday, March 5, 2011 marks the 6th Annual Old Fashioned Destin Fish Fry Fundraiser. This favorite local event benefits The Destin History and Fishing Museum.

Take a Moonlit Stroll on the Seashore
Gulf Islands National Seashore has announced they will be offering opportunities to experience the breathtaking beach sunset and moonrise from the Fort Pickens area, near the sugar white sands of Pensacola Beach, Florida.
On Friday, March 18 at 7PM or Monday, May 16 at 7:30 PM, join a park ranger for a guided, hour-long program celebrating the night sky and the rich, natural history of the seashore. The program begins near the Langdon Beach parking area and conclude about .5 mile down the beach.
While the program is free, there is an $8 entrance fee to the Fort Pickens Area.Participants should be prepared to walk in soft sand and bring a beach chair or blanket to watch the sunset.

Surfing Icon Honored
Over the weekend, hundreds gathered to pay tribute to the “Godf
ather of Gulf Coast Surfing” on the shores of Pensacola Beach. Yancy Spencer III died of a heartattack early last week after spending the day in California doing what he loved most, surfing.
A traditional Hawaiian paddle-out seems like the perfect way to honor a man known locally as a valued businessman, surfer, family man and friend.
