The Forgotten Coast is about to kick off one of their best annual events, the Florida Seafood Festival, in Apalachicola’s Battery Park. Reserve your nearby Port St. Joe vacation rental or Indian Pass beach home and don’t miss out!
Seafood is a favorite dish all along the Gulf Coast, but is a little different in Apalachicola, which is widely known for their delicious oysters. While the oysters will be readily available and on display, thanks to the oyster eating and shucking contests, other seafood will be easily enjoyed, as well. By this, of course, we mean shrimp and lots of it! Our favorite way to prepare is as a fried poboy, as seen here after our last trip to the Owl Cafe in downtown Apalachicola, but it will certainly be available prepared many different ways.
While the festival will last both November 1 and November 2, be sure to stick around until at least 8PM the second night to watch as Kellie Pickler takes the stage to perform her hits! Oh, and also stop by the Southern booth to visit our team. Reserve your stay now for the Florida Seafood Festival now!
Reserve your stay in a Mexico Beach vacation rental, such as Starline A & B, for one of the Forgotten Coast premier events, the Mexico Beach Wine and Art Festival, taking place this weekend.
The Mexico Beach Art and Wine Festival is now in its 15th year and is a favorite for locals and visitors to the area, and nearby communities such as Port St. Joe. The event is held at the Driftwood Inn and is a afternoon of art, wine and fun. The festival begins at 2PM on October 12, 2013 and is just $5 for entrance. Local and regional artists will have their work on display, and available for purchase, before the awards ceremony at 3PM. While this is not a wine tasting event, their will be a cash bar available where you can pick up a drink before wandering the grounds to scout the artwork before the silent or live auction.
Not only is the event fun, but it also raises money for other fun events that happen in Mexico Beach throughout the year. Come enjoy beautiful artwork, a cool drink, live music and more on the Forgotten Coast!
