Working Together on the Forgotten Coast

With the economic climate as it is today, more and more businesses find themselves partnering up to help each other and their region as a whole. This video is an example of a group of local companies teaming together on a cooperative effort in advertising. With WMBB TV as the catalyst, would-be competitors pull funds to send a unified message about the Forgotten Coast, including Port St. Joe, WindMark Beach and Cape San Blas beach communities.

Southern Resorts Vacation Rentals is excited to work with others in promoting one of the most beautiful places to vacation at the Beach. “Old Florida” at its finest with a modern twist, the Forgotten Coast has so much to offer…kayaking, scalloping, fishing, shopping, dining and the list continues. Reconnect with family and friends. Tour our natural areas, play at the beach or just relax, away from busy schedules. For all the reasons you visit and activities you choose to do, Southern Resorts has the vacation accommodations for you.

Billy Bowlegs in Fort Walton Beach

Last night with the Parade, the 54th Annual Billy Bowlegs Festival came to an end. The streets were lined with people vying for beads and candy  tossed from creative floats carrying a colorful crowd of pirates and others having a good time. Throughout the course of the events lasting five days, thousands of locals and visitors joined in the fun. Thursday night downtown Ft Walton came alive and the fun just kept building. What a beautiful weekend for the festivities! The sky was blue and water perfect for the boats gathering to watch the invasion, or landing. You can watch it here. Billy and his krewe took the city once again.

It is a unique time on our coast. Visitors from all over come for this weekend and actually make a week of it. We love to have them. All of Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island get in the pirate spirit. Here,  our favorite pirate, Erin, welcomed Southern Resorts’ guests to our Okaloosa Island location.

If you get a chance to visit the Panhandle of Florida for the Bowlegs festival, it is worth the trip. For options on vacation rentals along the coast, visit our search page here. For other local events, visit our event calendar.
