It’s been one year since the explosion of Deepwater Horizon, which killed 11 men, injured more and set off the largest accidental marine oil spill in history. The spill impacted many lives, the economy, wildlife habitats and tourism to our beloved Gulf Coast.

Many of these impacts are still felt all along the beaches, in many homes and businesses, but, just one short year later, we want people to know that the Gulf Coast is open for business and as beautiful as it ever was. The restaurants are open, the boats are coming back with record catches and we’re serving up some of the freshest (and safest!) seafood you can find. Your favorite attractions, like waterparks, charter fishing and dolphin cruises, are open and waiting for you. And, of course, our beaches are still perfectly white and clean. We’d like to take today to remember those who lost their lives during this terrible disaster and to thank those who worked to keep our beaches clean and safe for us and our visitors. And a big thank you to all of our guests, both for staying with us last year and for continuing to visit the Gulf Coast. We can’t wait to see you back on the beaches again this year!
