Shopping on the Forgotten Coast

The shopping on The Forgotten Coast has a style of its own. Without large shopping plazas, malls and outlets, the beach communities here focus more on the one-of-a-kind shopping experiences. While it may be hard to find a super center, it is easy to find a pottery garden, antique shop, coastal home furnishings store or fun boutique. Downtown Port St. Joe has Reid Avenue as its main street with charming shops in a setting reminiscent of main streets 50 years ago. Mexico Beach as an array of galleries and specialty stores and, only 20 minutes away, downtown Apalachicola. If you like to shop, you really need to visit “Apalach.” Once the third largest port on the Gulf, some 200 years ago, this town’s history and past have been preserved and offer a picturesque setting for some great shopping.
