24th Annual Destin Christmas Parade

A Woodturner’s Studio & Lighted Boat Parade in Port St. Joe
Port St. Joe, located in what is referred to as the Forgotten Coast, will be holding some of its own holiday festivities this weekend. There will be a Woodturner’s Studio on Friday December 11th from 11am-8pm & Saturday December 12th from 10am-6pm (Eastern Time Zone). Patrons will be able to shop through one of a kind holiday art and experience demonstrations.
The following weekend, the Woodturner’s Studio will conclude with hours Friday & Saturday from 10am-6pm (Eastern Time Zone).
After the Woodturner’s Studio add a some more holiday fun to your day by attending the Lighted Boat Parade on St. Joe Bay. Saturday December 12th, as the sun goes down the Christmas lights will be heating up on each boat. The Port St. Joe Yacht Club is proud to present this family fun event.

Panama City Beach Christmas Parade & Annual Boat Parade of Lights
The Panama City Beach Christmas Parade will be in full swing this Saturday December 12, 2009. The annual parade will begin at 4:00pm from the town center and will travel throughout Pier Park down the boardwalk to Front Beach Road. Three live marching bands will help set the mood, celebrating the spirit of the holiday season. After the parade, head back to your Panama City Beach vacation rental for some much needed relaxation after shopping.
If the Christmas Parade isn’t enough excitement for the day then head over to the 23rd Annual Boat Parade of Lights. Thousands of spectators gather every year at the St. Andrew Bay Yacht Club to see the boats light up beginning at 5:30pm. Then Travel to St. Andrews Marina to watch the show end. The theme for 2009 is “Centennial Hometown Christmas” in honor of Panama City’s centennial Year.

A Christmas Weekend Along The Beaches of Northwest Florida
In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a crisp chill in the air that will last through this first holiday weekend of December. Now I don’t know about you but the coldness helps me get into the Christmas mood and if you’re looking for something festive to do this weekend, you’ve definitely come to the right place.
First, Port St’ Joe’s Christmas on the Coast celebration will begin tomorrow with a special Holiday Farmer’s Market in the morning opening at 10:00am . Then, at 5:00pm, the annual Christmas Tree lighting will take place in City Commons Park followed by the Lighted Christmas Parade.
Also, the Mexico Beach Christmas Celebration of Lights will take place on Sunday December 6th. Gather your family and friends in Sunset Park to enjoy carolers, candlelight and candy.
Can’t make it over to the Forgotten Coast? That’s ok, make your way to Panama City Beach for the inaugural Run for the Redfish 1/2 marathon, 5k and Kids Fun Run. After the race stick around Pier Park and enjoy getting pet photos with Santa Claus!
Maybe Panama City Beach is a little too far? No big deal, journey to the HarborWalk Christmas Parade in Destin where you are sure to be lit up by the Christmas spirit.

Northwest Florida Receives Excellent Recognition from Frommer’s
Just yesterday I was talking about how beautiful the Beaches of Northwest Florida are throughout the year. Today, we’ve learned that the “Florida Panhandle Beaches” is the only continental U.S. destination included in Frommer’s list of Top Destinations 2010! (Other places on the list include Melbourne, Australia; Tunisia; Hanoi, Vietnam; Kerala, India; and Mexico City). The author visited our area this past spring.
For those of you who don’t know, Frommer’s is one of the best selling travel guides in America. Having celebrated its 50 year anniversary in 2007, creator Arthur Frommer, continues to actively blog about travel on his website.

All American Rejects Visiting The Swamp

The All American Rejects & Taking Back Sunday are performing at The Swamp this Friday. Don’t adjust your calendars, this Friday is December 4th and the same act that was at MTV’s 2009 Spring Break will be on the Emerald Coast.
It may seem a little out of place to have such a popular band visit during December, but it really shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Beaches of Northwest Florida continue to grow in popularity and the winter is one of the best times to visit the coast. The white sand is cool on your feet, the large crowds have gone home and there you stand enjoying the sound of the tides rolling to shore.
