Sunset Point - Destin, FL - 5 bedrooms - 4 baths

I want to stay at the same house next summer 2012 and all of my family does too. It was very convenient to everything in Destin that we wanted. Having our own pool was great also and the kids could also go to the clubhouse and swim if they wanted to. Wonderful experience and our first in Destin. Will definitely go back.

Sunset Point is a wonderful house in which to spend a vacation. The house is spacious and has most everything we needed. Suggested improvements: There were at least a dozen light bulbs burned out, and this made some of the rooms darker than desirable. A clock radio had no power cord. Many outdoor chairs were worn, or had loose fasteners. The wonderful covered back porch was peaceful and quiet only when the neighbor's aC unit was off. In late July, their aC unit was off only about 20% of the time (or so it seemed). The neighbor's aC unit is only about 10 feet from the Sunset Point back porch. I suggest a wooden fence to help reduce sound level. Southern Resorts was unable to help with Wifi access, suggesting that the HOa could help during weekday office hours. The Saturday help line claimed that no password is required. There is a password required, which we discovered on Sunday, hand-written in the visitor's binder. There was no explanation in the binder - simply the password written on the margin of one page.

It was so much fun to be with all my children and grandchildren for a week at the "Sunset Point" home in Destin. The house had all the equipment and rooms needed for all 12 of us. The pool on the back deck was so convenient and the beach was a short walk away. The only problem was a delay in entering because the lone cleaning woman was overwhelmed with the size of the house. It was 2 hours after check-in time when she was finally done but we were finacially compensated by Southern Vacation Rentals, which I felt was fair. Great house, will do it again if we can.

Our group was comprised of 6 adults and 5 young children, ages 4, 3, 2, 1 and 3 months. The house was perfect for us. It offered the comfort and privacy you hope for when you rent a home. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the basics. You just had to look for them. All of the knives (and there are alot of them) were very dull and needed to be sharpened. As mentioned in other reviews, more dish towels would have been helpful. We learned that when the power goes out and you are doing laundry, the washer will not unlock. It would be wise not to save your laundry for the last morning if there is a storm in the forcast! One of the reasons we chose this house for our vacation was for the pool. Security measures were built in that would prevent our little ones from slipping out of the house and falling into the pool. Unfortunately, the previous renters did not share our appreciation for the system and had disabled/damaged the alarms. Management sent someone quickly to repair them for us, and atleast one of the door alarms was functional while we were there. The pool was a big hit, especially since there was so much seaweed at the beach. Even the lake that backs up to the property offered an opportunity for our 4 year old grandson to caught a bluegill with his new rod and reel! All in all, it was a great vacation spent in a great house.

We did not have any complaints or problems with the house, other than, they needed more dishtowels (only two). We did have a problem with the directions to the house and not knowing the password to the gate--minor blips in an truely relaxing vacation trip.

We rented Sunset Point to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday, our son's 4 year wedding anniversary since he was married on the beach in Destin on 05/11/07 and a friend's birthday on Monday 05/09/11. We had 12 people in our group (all adults) and had the most amazing week. The weather was picture perfect so we were able to use the pool and the beach every day. We loved afternoons at the Crab Trap bar which was right on the beach. The beds were all comfortable and the house is spectacular. The only problem we had was a broken shower door on the first floor bathroom. Southern Resorts sent someone over and they were unable to fix it but sent a professional company the next day. It was as good as new! The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, silverware, etc. We can't wait to rent this house again in the future.

The complex was excellent, the home is well kept and clean. Enjoyed every minute we were there. The only real issue I had was I did not get the correct gate code until 5 days into my stay. I became very frustrated.

We enjoyed our stay at Sunset Point. We loved the pool area and the layout of the home worked very well for our group of adults and children. Very close to the beach but also to restaurants and shopping. The house was very clean. We called about the grill being out of gas and someone from Southern Resorts brought a tank over within an hour or so! There was a problem with the shower door on the first floor guest shower but we didn't need to use it much. Overall, one of the best places we've rented in the many years we've come to the Destin area.

this house was beautiful. loved the community center--pool, hot tub, tennis court, basketball court and work-out gym. Our families used this daily. The weather was the best we have ever had. We only had a few things we wished the house included---a big screen TV in the front room. There was only 1 TV that we all had to watch unless you went to your bedrooms. The house was well equiped with utensils but we didn't have any dish rags or pot holders. we had to use a washcloth to do dishes and use hand towels for oven mitts. Our keyless entry number to open the front gate didn't work- -we had to use someone elses(not a problem). Thank-You for such a wonderful trip and we have great memories. We would concern this home in the future!

Located right in the middle of things, across from the beach. Beautiful house with an excellent pool area and sundeck. Would stay here again for sure.

Sunset Point is a great house for a family vacation. The pictures on the website do not do the house justice. I was a little concerned after reading some of the other reviews, but none of them proved to be accurate. The only thing close to a problem we had at this house was the propane tank on the grill was empty. I called the office (on labor day) and they brought me a full tank within an hour. The house is literally a 3 minute walk from the beach in a gated neighborhood. The neighborhood is directly across the street from the Crab Trap Restaurant. The house has a good size pool and a huge kitchen with everything you need. I researched several other houses in Crystal Beach, but this was buy far the greatest value. I only wish my stay was longer. My family is looking forward to returning to Sunset Point next year!

We loved the house and the location. The kitchen was great and was supplied with plenty of dishes. We enjoyed the pool and a few family members even caught some fish off the back deck. Things I would have changed: 1. Why would you put a full size bed in a vacation rental home? 2. I wish there were couches that made into beds. None of them did. 3. The formal living room seems like wasted space as there is no TV. Could have even put a sofa bed in there. Overall, we loved it and would stay here again.

I sent a review earlier, but here is another one. the place was gorgeous and we had a wonderful time. it was very clean. a few suggestions: 1. we were not given a code to get into the house, although we were given a code to entrance gate. 2. the key did not work for the community pool and exercise room. 3. we were not advised about the slidding glass door alarms, which would have helped a lot 4. the house needs a can opener, the one in the kitchen is broken.

We loved every minute of our vacation! The house was incredible and loved the pool in the backyard. You cannot beat the location - walking distnce to the beach! Can't wait to rent it again next year!

Sunset Point was a great home. Comfortable, clean and convenient. It came with just about everything you need for a great Destin vacation. It's located in a great subdivision right off Scenic 98 and the home is in the front of the neighborhood, so it's right across the street from the beach. Keyless check-in was much better than having to pick up keys at the office and express checkout again eliminated the need for a trip to the office. A couple of points: The one thing we couldn't find was a broom. We ended up buying our own, but you'd think the place would give you the tools to keep it clean. The backyard patio and pool were great, but in the afternoon, there is ZERO shade, even under the covered porch. It wouldn't be difficult to creat some shade with some palm trees or awnings or pull-down shades. It would make the afternoons/early evenings much more enjoyable. Being a gated community was a hassle (we had some trouble getting in a couple of times after a lightning strike), but I guess that's best to keep the traffic down,

My husband and I rented this property and brought our entire family including our two daughters, their husbands and our five grandchildren to Sunset Point. We had some booking problems that were not revealed to us until we were on the road to Florida, however, we were treated fairly by Southern Resorts and we all had a fabulous week. The house was beautiful (could use another bath on 2nd floor), but we improvised and made all the rooms work for us. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything being new. Location to the beach is great and the community pool was great for the children. Only thing I would suggest is pool heat since we could not use the pool at all in April. We would definitely rent this property again.
