Jazz Music and Trip to the Beach

Ready for an adventure celebrating the revival of an old favorite mixed with a family escape to the beach? I have a great idea. Drive to the New Orleans Jazz Festival (featured APRIL 27-29 AND MAY 4-6 ) with great artists and "joyful integration of culture and community." Spend two days there and then take a leisurely 4 hour drive east for a relaxing 4 or 5 day stay at the beach in one of Southern Resorts wonderful Fort Walton Beach, Beaches of South Walton or Destin vacation rentals. When I travel with my daughters, little diversions and overnight stays make the trip more enjoyable for all of us. A little culture and A LOT of beach. How can you go wrong?

I visited Harbor Docks in Destin, Florida this weekend, The view and food were as usual wonderful.
We enjoyed sushi & then moved on to hibachi. Looking out the windows watching the boats go by you are transported to Destin of yesteryear.
Great food & great view, how can you pass this up? Whether visitor or native Harbor Docks is definitely a "can't go wrong".

Provision Catering

Southern Resorts Vacation Rentals just celebrated their Ribbon Cutting and Reception of the new Barefoot Cottages in Port St. Joe, Florida, about 2 hours east of Destin. A wonderful poolside party was enhanced by the delightful food and presentation by Provision Catering. While I have not been in their restaurant in downtown Port St Joe, I will the next time I am there at 301 Williams Ave. 850-229-9200

Head to the Village of Baytowne Wharf tomorrow evening for a holiday pops concert that all will enjoy.The evening will be presented by Sinfonia Gulf Coast and Conductor Demetrius Fuller. The concert will begin at 8pm at the events plaza. Arrive early and have dinner at one of the great restaurants in the Village, from Sushi to Jambalaya you are sure to find your favorites.

Art Walk in Apalachicola

Experience this Spring Celebration of the Arts this Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 12-9PM in Apalachicola, Florida. Only a twenty minute drive from Southern Resorts Barefoot Cottages in Port St. Joe, Apalachicola is a charming, historic seaside community with wonderful shopping and dining! Even if you are staying as far west in a Destin vacation rental, it is worth the 2.5 hour drive for this event!

Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival Makes Top 20!

Catch Harper at the Village tonight

Harper will be performing this evening at the Village of Baytowne Wharf. He is known for his soulful vocals & unique harmonica performances. He also includes the didgeridoo (“Yidaki,” an Australian indigenous instrument) into his shows. Harper has performed at some of the largest and most prestigious music festivals in the world including: Milwaukee Summerfest, The Chicago Blues Festival, Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, and The International Blues Festival.

The performance will be held from 6-8 in the events plaza at the Village of Baytowne Wharf.

Ribbon Cutting

I had the opportunity to view one of Southern Resorts rental properties this weekend, Azure 605. This is really an awesome complex, the view was spectacular & the pool is beautiful.
This unit had really neat red lights over the bar that I particularly liked.

Wednesday Night Concert Series at the Village of Baytowne Wharf

It's that time of the week to enjoy the concert series again.
This weeks entertainment is Dread Clampitt, these talented individuals play a mixture of bluegrass, funk and jazz. It will be a nice evening tonight about 58 degrees. Bring out your blanket to the events plaza at the Village of Baytowne Wharf and enjoy. The concert will be held from 6pm - 8pm.

Old Fashioned Fish Fry

If you want to experience firsthand a good old fashioned fish fry, stop by the Destin Fishing Museum on March 10th. The 5th Annual Kids Win Fishing Tournament, at the St. Joe Marina is Saturday, April 7th. This is an "In-Shore / "Near Shore" / "Intra Coastal Waterway" fishing event for kids ages 3-16.
