My girls and I spent a few hours at the beach last Sunday and it was picture-perfect...blue sky and emerald green water...wow! My five-year-old built elaborate sand castles and my 18-month-old had a great time knocking them down. We chased seagulls and each other, and we let the cool water splash on our feet as we jumped the waves. The attire of the day was t-shirts and shorts, and we even came home with a slight tan from the sun. I occasionally forget how beautiful the beach can be this time of year, but I don't think my girls will let me forget anymore. They are already asking me when are we going back. Soon girls, very soon!

A Truly Unique Christmas Parade.......Real "Floats"

This year, if you want to see real "floats" in a unique Christmas parade, check out the Annual Boat Parade, Saturday, December 9th, at 6:00! Each year, an unbelievable number of area boat owners go all out to deck their boats for the holidays, and you can see it all from the boardwalk at the Village at Baytowne Wharf. It's a fantastic display of lights, reflected in the calm waters of Choctahatchee Bay, that you won't want to miss!
Believe me, you'll never think of a Christmas "parade" the same way again!
It's Snowing at the Commons?
I have to see this. Every night at 7pm there will be snow at the Destin Commons shopping mall. Clear skies, forecasted 42-60 degree nights this week and SNOW. The kids will love it.

Thanksgiving in Destin
What a wonderful Thanksgiving we had in Destin.
The weather was wonderful & I was told by my Dad that people were swimming at the beach also.
We are truly blessed to live in such a wonderful area that others eagerly anticipate to visit.
The Christmas Reflections begin tonight in Defuniak Springs, you should definitely make time to visit the sparkling lights reflecting over Lake Defuniak.

After enjoying our Thanksgiving Day, we are planning to go watch the Baytowne Village Christmas Tree Lighting this Saturday. Santa will be there and like most events at the Village, there will be live music and other activities, including special holiday fireworks. My whole family, including teenagers and 7 year-old, love going to Baytowne. It is just a great place to be!

Gulf Dunes
What a gorgeous day we had today.
I was visiting Gulf Dunes and there were several families enjoying the beach and the pool too.
I enjoyed watching the pelicans floating in the water enjoying the sunny day.

The sunset yesterday was unbelievable. I drove past the Crab Trap and you could see people lining up on the boardwalks to watch. Not too many. Mostly couples, a few surfers catching some sunset waves and a few families playing in the sand. It was really nice. What a beautiful time of year!
New Destin Office
The end of Summer witnessed a new step for Southern Resorts Vacation Rentals. On August 14, 2006, the local, eleven year old company moved into their new headquarters in Destin. “After years of planning, we realized a major vision of ours to have our own building under which all facets of our Destin operations could be housed,” says Mike Shoults, co-owner. Our central reservations, maintenance, administration and Destin/Walton County property managers work together in this new building. According to Kevin Veach, co-owner, “with a strategic location balancing on the edge of both Walton and Okaloosa Counties, we still service all of our properties, owners and guests with the same professional ease as we did at our last location.” New state-of-the-art facilities and equipment are already busy cultivating business for this Fall, Winter and 2007. Actually just across the street from their previous location, the new physical address is 4608 Opa-Locka Lane. Stop by for a visit.
