It’s that time again!  The 2009 Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival of Niceville is here again for its 33rd year and promises a great time for the entire family.  Arts and crafts along with food concessions are just the start of this festival featuring live performances by Chuck Wicks, Blake Shelton, and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Although the Festival may not get as much publicity along the Emerald Coast as the Destin or Panama City Seafood Festivals, The Mullet Festival usually attracts an even larger crowd.  The festival has grown in popularity by word of mouth but recently received some free advertising from the premium cable channel HBO.  On HBO’s weekly series “True Blood”, one of the main characters wore a Mullet Festival T-Shirt that was quickly noticed by many people along Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast.  Then, in a separate episode, an extra was spotted clearly wearing another Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival T-Shirt.  There is no real reason for HBO choosing the clothing option, it was just a fortunate boost of awareness for this great yearly festival.
