Want a ride? After driving a couple of hours to a full day getting to my destination, one of the last things I want to do is get back in the car and drive somewhere. Luckily, if you are spending your beach vacation along Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast, a few of our beach communities have trolley service. So visit Florida’s Panhandle, sit back, and relax with us.
Our Pensacola Beach community has free Beach Trolleys operated by Escambia County Area Transitthat traverse up and down the Beach on Fridays from 6pm to midnight, on Saturdays from noon to midnight and on Sundays from 5pm to 10pm. This summer service lasts through Labor Day with the trolleys leaving every 30 minutes from Portofino Boardwalk and running as far as Fort Pickens Gate on the west side of the island, and to Portofino Island Resort & Spa on the east side.
Ride the Wave in Destin and Fort Walton Beach year round with the Okaloosa County Transit. These trolleys charge a nominal fee ($1 for adults) and stop at key locations on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach, downtown Fort Walton and in Destin, too. Ride over to one of our favorite places on Okaloosa Island, the Gulfarium, and watch Lilli the dolphin or the playful sea lions. Take a little history lesson at the Destin History and Fishing Museum.
With so many points of interest along the path and easy access from Southern Resorts’ vacation rentals, it is a great way to explore the Emerald Coast.
