While Billy Bowlegs is invading Fort Walton Beach this weekend, a more peaceful landing is taking place to the west in Pensacola. Locals and visitors alike will be decorating their boats and yachts with festive flags to be a part of one of the largest boat parades on Pensacola Bay this Saturday, on June 6, 2009. Don’t miss the opportunity to join the pageantry of vessels escorting Don Tristan DeLuna’s yacht to the shores of Pensacola Beach where he will be welcomed by Chief Mayoki, his Queen and tribe at the Landing Ceremony.

The spectacular procession begins at the mouth of Bayou Chico. If you are a land lover, the Fiesta Boat Parade can also be seen from the Quietwater Boardwalk on Pensacola Beach, within walking distance to most of Southern Resorts‘ Pensacola Beach vacation rentals. If you have not already made reservations for this weekend, save 25% at the fabulous Portofino. For other beach vacation specials, visit here.

The Fiesta of Five Flags is Pensacola’s annual celebration of its founding in 1559 by the Spanish Conquistador, Don Tristan de Luna establishing Pensacola as the first European settlement in the United States. The events begin with the arrival of the world’s third largest tall ship, the Juan Sebastián de Elcano, at approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3 at the Port of Pensacola.
