Jacques Cousteau once said, “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”

I’ve always loved the beach. The first time my family vacationed to Destin was 1989 when I was only 5. I remember the sensation of sugar white sand squeaking between my toes and looking at the sparkles dancing along the emerald water. I even recall telling my older brother how much the sand looked like pure white snow. As I grew up, I cherished the memories of our vacations and eventual move down to Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Now, over 20 years later, the beach captivates me more than ever. I look back at the past couple of months and think about how lucky the Beaches of Northwest Florida have been. I think about all of the vacationing families making memories along our shores and how unbelievably special this area is to so many people. The coastal communities and laid back way of life have a unique way of helping each of us relax and enjoy ourselves.

Perhaps that’s why so many people (including myself) love the ocean. It’s the perfect place to set aside all of our “man made” concerns and find our true selves where we’re not dealing with the normal grind of schedules, work, bus stops and homework.

Now more than ever I appreciate the wonderful Beaches of Northwest Florida. Whether you’re looking for the tranquility of the Forgotten Coast, the history along Pensacola Beach, the excitement of Panama City Beach, the charm of the Beaches of South Walton, the fun of Fort Walton Beach or the variety of Destin, one thing is for sure, the memories you make here will be unforgettable. We look forward to helping you plan a vacation to our shores.
